Even though he was the most popular pop-star of his time, Michael Jackson had to declare bankruptcy in 2007 about two years before he passed away. Jackson's Neverland Ranch home cost an absolute fortune to maintain as it had its own train and train station as well as many zoo animals plus Jackson made big payouts to those who accused him of sexual misconduct. The Neverland Ranch was put up for sale for $100 million a few years ago. The price was reduced to $67 million in 2017 but the property has still not sold.
